An enterprise fax server solution is designed to provide fax services to multiple areas of a corporate network – desktop users, email servers/clients, business applications, workflows and document management systems, etc. Multi-Function Peripherals (MFPs) can be, and should be, included in the mix.
Useit Fax Solutions can be fitted with the Useit Fax Scan Connector for MFPs to streamline fax transmission through the central enterprise fax server. No additional fax kits, modems, fax boards, or fax lines are required at the MFP device level.
How Does MFP Fax Integration Work?
The Useit Fax Scan Connector for MFPs leverages the MFPs native scan-to-fax server option. When a user needs to send a fax, they simply scan in their document, select the “Scan to Fax Server” option from the MFP touch screen or control panel, enter the recipient fax number and information, and press the Send button. The MFP will hand off the scanned image and fax job information to the Useit Fax Scan Connector, which the proceeds to carry out the fax job.

Scan-to-Email Works Too
Many of the MFPs today include scan-to-email functionality that enables users to scan and email hard copy documents via a network email server. Useit Fax Solutions can leverage the MFP scan-to-email functionality to fax documents right from your MFP devices. In this case, a scan-to-fax message is treated and processed exactly like a fax that was submitted from a user’s email client.
To send a fax using the scan-to-email option, a user simply scans in the document, selects the scan-to-email option, addresses the email to an SMTP fax recipient (see examples of SMTP style addressing in this post), and clicks the Send button. The MFP will hand the email off to the email server which will then hand the message of the Useit Fax Server for transmission. If the MFP includes information about the logged in user, the Useit Fax Server can email a fax transmission report back to that user’s email address, alerting the user of the fax status.
One of the main benefits to using the scan-to-email integration for faxing is that the same integration can be used for end users that want to fax using their email client. So you’re fax-enabling email users and the MFPs in one shot.
